Q7 Just Function (Fx)
Spreadsheets allow you to organize your data. This Quest will help you create and use data in the form of a spreadsheet to make wise decisions. Pay close attention to using functions and graphs so that you can analyze your data effectively. For this Quest, you will need to check in with your teacher to establish which activity you will complete.
Car Cruising is an activity where you will collect data on the cars in your parking lot (or alternate lot identified by your teacher). You will collect data about the car color, model, and license plate month. You will learn how to use different sheets in a spreadsheet, have the spreadsheet calculate totals, percents (%), and create different graphics (bar chart, pie chart, and one of your choice).
Cell Phone Use is an activity where you will use data provided on cell phone useage: minutes and text messages. You will enter the data in a spreadsheet, do totals and averages, and graph the data. Then after analyzing the data you will look at different cell phone plans and recommend the one you think would be best.
Hungry Mungry is an activity where you examine the eating habits of a boy named Mungry by entering data into a spreadsheet, creating totals and illustrating the data in bar graphs and pie charts. Then you will compare his eating habits to the healthy dietary guidelines and provide recommendations for change.
Functions: Functions are predefined formulas and are already available in modern-day spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Analyze: To analyze is to help us to learn what our data might mean in a spreadsheet.
