In this Quest, you will experience a classroom social network through an online service called Edmodo. You will use this social network to participate in discussions, upload assignments, and personalize your Edmodo account information. You will want to look at this rubric before you start, to see how you will be evaluated during this Quest.

1. Your teacher will give you a group code to join your classroom social network. Visit Edmodo and sign up for a student account using the code for your classroom your teacher will provide. By clicking on Account and Settings you can personalize your avatar and update your profile information. The video at the top of this page will show you the basics for signing up, creating your profile, and using Edmodo.
2. Your teacher will provide several opportunities for you to interact with your classmates by completing each of the steps below.
A. Complete the poll "What Social Network do You Use the Most?"
B. You are an expert in the field of technology and social media. After much work, you have negotiated a contract with a school district that would like your advice about what middle and high school students could do to be safe and successful in life online (review the notes you took on the template in Thing One). Add your expert tips to the discussion started by your teacher on the Edmodo page.
C. Go to the discussion started by your teacher and respond to these questions: "What social networks do you use? What do you use them for? What social networks might be good for you to use in the future?" You might want to refer to your notes the various social networking Quests you have completed to help you with this.
Completing this Gold Quest
Your participation in the Quest will be documented on your classroom social network (Edmodo). Make sure you have completed all posts to Edmodo for parts A, B, and C above.
