Now that you have explored your personality and some potential careers, you will find out about the Career Clusters and Pathways you may be on. Careers having similar characteristics and requiring similar skills can be grouped together within 16 national Career Clusters and six Michigan Career Pathways.

Key Vocabulary

Career Cluster: A career cluster is a group of jobs and industries that are related by skills or product.

Career Pathway: A career pathway is a series of  educational and training programs and services that enables students, often while they are working, to advance over time to successively higher levels of education and employment in a given industry or occupational sector. 

Career Technical Education (CTE): CTE are one-two year programs within the 16 Career Clusters offered to high school students to get specialized training in his or her chosen field. CTE gives students up to two years of training/work experience in their chosen career prior to leaving high school.  

Infographics: Infographics are a visual way to represent data and information.

To complete this Quest, you will create a digital artifact in the form of an infographic or multi-media presentation. Your artifact will include your research results from the following steps. NOTE: This presentation may be used for future Things. 
Start by downloading your Career Research Notes  document, where you can begin planning and documenting your research for use in your digital artifact.


Part 1: Research Careers

Part I - Research Careers

1. Take the Career Cluster Survey

  • Identify the Career Cluster(s) that best fits your personality, skills and interests by taking the Career Cluster Survey.
  • View the video about your top Career Cluster at
  • Record in your Career Research Notes document to include in your multi-media presentation. 


2. Research your Career Cluster

  • Visit the CareerShip site and search by your top Career Cluster found in the previous step.
  • Locate career descriptions, tasks, interests, education, knowledge, skills, and etc. from three possible careers within your Cluster. 
  • Record in your Career Research Notes document for use in your multi-media presentation.

4. Explore local education opportunities (CTE Programs)

  • Visit the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs listed for your area. (Note: if you do not see your local skill, vocational, or career center listed, ask your teacher for the web address.) 
  • Determine two-three programs that might fit your personality and career research.
  • Record your findings in the Career Research Notes  document. 

Part 2: Create a Digital Artifact

Part II - Create a Digital Artifact

5. Gather what you have learned from Part I (Steps 1-4). Get ready to create an infographic or multi-media presentation using Visme or another approved program (check with your instructor). 

Your presentation should include:

  • Research gathered in your Career Research Notes about Career Cluster, detail about your top choice or your Top 2, descriptions, skills, nature of work, work conditions, education/skills, job outlook, salary, CTE program options, and etc.
  • Citations
  • Creative Commons
  • Copyright friendly images
  • Anything else you feel adds to the presentation's visual appeal

6.  Select and learn about tool you chose to create your digital artifact. Possible tools include, Piktochart, Canva, Venn.gage,,, Prezi, PowerPoint, Google Presentations, or another program selected by your teacher. 

View the Visme tutorial video learn about creating infographics or presentations, or search for tutorials about the tool you chose.  

Next, open your Career Research Notes document to help you with the content and creation of your digital artifact.

7. Post BOTH your digital artifact (Infographic or Presentation) AND your Career Research Notes to your online presence.  

8. Check with your teacher about how you will submit your work for this Quest.
