One of the simplest and most effective troubleshooting techniques is to turn the device off and then back on again. Why does this work? Well, let's explore a few reasons First, it resets system processes by turning off your computer. It completely shuts down all the running processes and cleans out your system memory. Also known as ram. This action provides a fresh start and helps resolve issues caused by software conflicts memory leaks or temporary software glitches. The second thing it does is it releases system resources. So over time computers accumulate in various background processes and temporary files that consume system resources by restarting you clear those up and free out those resources allowing your computer to run faster. The third thing it does is it restores network connections. So if you're having problems with internet connectivity, a simple restart can reestablish network connections and helps your computer reconnect back to your network so you can get on with your work. The fourth thing it does is it fixes drivers. So drivers are little pieces of software that allow parts of your hardware to talk to other parts of your hardware So sometimes there's conflicts with these. So again restarting and starting back up again will fix those And finally, number five, it clears temporary software issue. So occasionally software programs can encounter errors that affect the overall stability of your computer by restarting you close all open programs and clear out any temporary issues that may have been caused This allows you to start fresh with a clean slate before you do any of these steps on a computer. Let's talk about one important thing before you do it, make sure to save all the work that you're doing. So if you're using something like Google Docs and online your files are being saved automatically. If you're using something else, maybe like Microsoft Word on a Windows machine, make sure to save your files before you do any of these steps. Ok. Now we're gonna get into how to restart lots of different devices. So some of these may apply to you and some may not just depends on what you can get your hands on. So we're gonna talk about the most common devices. A Windows laptop or PC, a chromebook, a Android phone or an Android tablet and an ipad or something using I OS which is the Apple operating system. Go to the start button, click the power button, click the power button one more time and then click on restart This will immediately restart your computer and ask for the restart. Your computer will be ready to use once again. That's it. There are several ways to restart a chromebook. Here are the two most common methods press and hold the power button for about three seconds This will bring up a power menu on your screen which will give you the option by clicking to restart your chromebook. The second most common way is to press the power button and the refresh button. At the same time, this will immediately restart your chromebook for an Android tablet, press and hold the single button on the side until you see the pop-up menu, then touch the restart icon to restart the device. This next tip is really helpful if you have a phone or, you know, somebody has a phone, it just doesn't work quite right. So this is for an Android phone, the way that you get to the menu to restart it is you start by pushing the side button and then you get a menu that drops down and then you have to just drag your finger down just a little bit until you get to the very bottom You'll see a small power button, touch that power button and then a new menu will come up where you can restart your phone. Restarting ipads is a little bit interesting. Once the slider appears release the power button, swipe the slider from left to right to power off the ipad. Wait for the ipad to shut down completely and then press and hold the power button once again. Until the apple logo appears on your screen, then your ipad will be up and ready to use after that restart.
