Introduction

You have successfully completed your research on careers. Next, you will prepare your own credentials and promote your skills and abilities. During this Quest, you will be asked to prepare a resume, application, and digital portfolio.

Steps
 

Review the sample student portfolios, then update your online presence to begin posting items that promote your skills and abilities to your online Career Portfolio.

1.  Update your online presence

Create a new page on your online presence named Career Portfolio. The purpose of an online portfolio is to promote your resume online! Consider including sections or sub-pages that coincide with the parts of your resume (e.g. About Me, Education, Work Experience, Skills, Activities, Awards & Honors). NOTE: References should NOT be listed on an e-portfolio.

2. Check out what others are doing

Check out how these high school students are preparing for the world of work.

You may want to see how college student Levi Smith’s Digital Electronic Portfolio (e-portfolio) has evolved since he was in high school. Make note of the images, pages, and contents now that he is older

3. Add documents and samples
Begin posting documents and examples of your work to your Career Portfolio page. Include the following:

  • Career Research infographic or multi-media presentation (Quest 3)
  • Sample Application (Quest 4)
  • Resume (Quest 4)
  • Education Plan (Quest 4)
  • Other (Examples:  scan awards, post images, videos or presentations, or key an introduction about yourself)

4. Publish and share your updated online presence with your teacher for evaluation.

5. Check with your teacher to see how you will submit your work for this Quest.
