1. Choose a poem or some lyrics that interest you and are school-appropriate.

2. Copy and paste into your document one stanza (a group of 4 or more lines arranged together as a unit) from the poem, including:

  • The title, author of the poem or lyrics,  URL of the website where you copied it from, and the date when you found the poem or lyrics.

3. Cite your Poem or Lyric

  • It's time to give credit where credit is due. Use one of the citation-making sites provided to create a citation for the poem or Lyrics you have selected. Your teacher may recommend one citation-making tool over the others.

Some Citation-Making sites:

You may be prompted to choose the type of resource you are citing (poem or lyric). Type the pertinent information into the citation maker that may include:

  • title of the work
  • author or copyright owner
  • the website you used to find it
  • the date it was created.
  • If other information is available you can also put that into the citation maker.
  • Submit the information and you will get a citation that you can copy and paste into your document.
